Hampstead is located in Pender County, one of NC’s fastest growing areas. Wilmington

Wilmington is one of the most unique towns on the North Carolina coast because of it’s eclectic mix of people; from artists and actors to beach bums, college students, and tourists. It is also home to the Battleship North Carolina and Screen Gem Studios. Wilmington’s mild climate change is favorable to those wanting to escape the harsh winters of the North or the constant heat of the far South. The weather stays warm into the beginning of the Fall, but the color changes that many love still occur. Flowers bloom throughout the Winter leading to an amazing color display in the Spring. The beautiful pink and white azaleas and dogwood make the streets of Wilmington look like paradise.

Carolina Beach

Carolina Beach is a resort community located 15 miles south of Wilmington. The community’s most active months are from mid-April to November, but its mild climate makes it a great place to live year round. Kure Beach

Kure Beach is a small tranquil beach town, just a few miles south of Carolina beach. It is home to the oldest fishing pier on the Atlantic coast, an oceanfront park and the NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher. Kure Beach is known for its beautiful natural surroundings and relaxed pace, perfect for enjoying this coastal town.
 

Wrightsville Beach

Wrightsville Beach is known for its clear blue waters and spacious, clean beach. Visitors and residents can surf, boat, swim, fish, play golf or tennis and enjoy the nightlife in this active community. This walkable, village-like town boasts a welcoming, social community. Events are held throughout the year, including Surf and Sand Volleyball and Bocce Ball Tournament, Annual YMCA Triathlon, Beach2Battleship Triathlon, Cape Fear Kite Festival and Festival in the Park with the NC Holiday Flotilla.
 

Holly Ridge

Holly Ridge is the gateway to Topsail Island Beaches, offering many sporting and recreational opportunities in a natural coastal area. It is the home of the historic Camp Davis and therefore has strong military ties in the community. Locals enjoy a peaceful, friendly environment to live, work, play and visit.
 

Surf City

Surf City has been the commercial heart of Topsail Island for over 60 years. The town has grown from a small fishing village that was home to a handful of families to a year-round community of around 1,900. Surf City’s clean and uncrowded beaches have become the town’s main attraction Surf City is home to a variety of indoor and outdoor dining facilities that feature coastal Carolina cuisine. Topsail Sound and the Intracoastal Waterway separate the island from the mainland. This narrow body of water provides the perfect setting for canoeing, kayaking, water skiing and fishing.
 

Topsail Beach

Incorporated in 1963, Topsail Beach is home to restaurants, unique shops and a fishing pier. This beautiful beach community stretches from Surf City to the southern tip of the island. Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescues and Rehabilitation Center, Missiles and More Museum and the Autumn with Topsail Festival all call Topsail Beach home as well. The town has its own marina and boat ramp where visitors can enjoy all sorts of water activities.
 

Leland

Leland is located just across the river from Wilmington in Brunswick County. Both retirees and new families are seeing the perks of living across the Cape Fear River where climate is mild and favorable to those wanting to escape the harsh winters of the North and extreme heat of the far South. Leland has been steadily expanding, welcoming new businesses and new communities, making it the perfect in between for the big city life of Wilmington and the relaxed atmosphere of the Brunswick County beaches. Oak Island

The Town of Oak Island has 60+ public beach accesses, as well as fishing docks and piers, boat ramps and many other access points to the Intracoastal Waterway and the Davis Canal, making it the perfect location for fishing, boating, kayaking and other water activities. Oak Island also has a municipal golf course and many parks including, a skate park, a dog park, a cabana on the oceanfront with an observation deck and plenty of places to find a quiet spot to relax and enjoy the view. Area businesses, like piers and marinas, restaurants and ice cream shops, also help make vacationers feel welcome while catering to full-time residents. The town of Oak Island covers much of the island and in
cludes areas on the mainland around both bridges, such as the golf course community of South Harbor Village. There are also thousands of undeveloped acres near the Swain’s Cut Bridge.
 

Burgaw

Nestled in the heart of Pender County, Burgaw is a small town known for its friendly people and picturesque surroundings. So much so, several films and television shows have been filmed here. Burgaw is conveniently located 25 minutes from Wilmington and area beaches. Burgaw offers a wide variety of shopping and casual dining. Burgaw is home of the North Carolina Blueberry Festival, held annually on the third Saturday in June.
 

Sneads Ferry

It is the second largest municipality in Onslow County, behind Jacksonville. Growth primarily has been driven by accessibility to MCB Camp Lejeune and expansion of the United States Marine Corps Special Operations Command (MARSOC). Sneads Ferry is expected to continue growing rapidly in coming years. This municipality began as a fishing town and those roots are still evident today in this charming area.
 

Jacksonville

Jacksonville is among North Carolina’s fastest growing cities and has become a retail hub, but it is better known as the home of Camp Lejeune, a Marine Corps facility called “The World’s Most Complete Amphibious Training Base.”The community was established in 1757 and officially incorporated in 1842. The city was named after Andrew Jackson, the seventh President of the United States. Jacksonville is home to the Marine Corporation Museum of the Carolinas and the Lynnwood Park Zoo. Golfers can enjoy a round at the Rock Creek Golf and Country Club. At the Hammocks Beach State Park, visitors can enjoy swimming, fishing, camping, boating and picnicking.
 

Bolivia

Bolivia is the county seat of Brunswick County, NC and is part of the Myrtle Beach metropolitan area. It is located in east-central Brunswick County, about 18 miles southwest of Wilmington. Bolivia is the center of Brunswick County government, and because of that has seen an increase in population and access. It is close to Brunswick County beaches, great shopping, and located just a short drive from UNCW.
 

Southport

Southport is a charming town, rich in history, located where the mouth of the Cape Fear River intersects with the ICWW and the Atlantic Ocean. Although Southport is home to events such as the Fourth of July Festival, it is normally a quiet fishing village with just over 3000 year round residents. It is a great place to visit, or retire! It offers carefully planned new communities in addition to the preserved historic neighborhoods. Southport is close to Brunswick County Beaches, and offers wonderful shopping and restaurants.
 

Shallotte

Located in central Brunswick County, Shallotte has become a business hub for southern Brunswick County. Residents and visitors from miles around go to shop, dine and enjoy entertainment. Shallotte is a small town, but offers many different shopping and dining choices. It’s location, only 10 minutes from area beaches, makes it a great destination for tourists and locals alike.
 

Rocky Point

Rocky Point is a rural town in southern Pender County. It’s small size and deep roots in farming make it a quiet place to settle, while still remaining close to the amenities of the larger metro areas such as Wilmington, Burgaw and Hampstead.
